"You did a wonderful job," said James Maguire, World Health Organization epidemiologist, to Su Guilin, a 53-year-old doctor in the sanitation and anti-epidemic station of her remote hometown in central China's Henan Province.
Su told Maguire on Friday that she had investigated three SARS patients and 60 people who had contact with the patients in the town.
"After a patient was confirmed, we traced closely all people that had contact with him," Su said. "We visited his family and neighbors as well as asked about his health situation."
She said that if a person had close contact with the patient, then those who had contact with the person should also be traced, especially couples.
Su has been involved in the hard and careful epidemiology research with her colleagues since the first local SARS patient was found on April 15.
Maguire also answered questions raised by Su.
