Eleven more atypical pneumonia patients have recovered and been discharged from public hospitals in Hong Kong Monday, bringing the total number of discharged patients to 127.
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Department of Health and the Hospital Authority jointly made the announcement Monday.
The announcement also said that as of 3:00 pm Monday, 41 patients with symptoms of atypical pneumonia had been admitted to public hospitals. They include seven healthcare workers.
Most of the patients in hospitals are showing positive responses to the new treatment protocol. One hundred and sixteen patients are receiving treatment in the intensive care unit, it said.
Meanwhile, a 78-year-old female patient died in Queen Elizabeth Hospital last night, bringing to 23 the total number of deaths relating to atypical pneumonia in Hong Kong.
Standard Chartered Bank announced Monday in a press release that it will donate 50,000 disposable gowns to United Christian Hospital to help front-line medical professionals combat the disease.
