There is no time table for Australia to pull back its 900 troops from Iraq yet, said Foreign Minister Alexander Downer Tuesday.
Downer told the Nine TV Network that Australian and British leaders have exchanged views on how long the coalition forces in Iraq will stay there, but no decision has been made.
"We'll have to wait and see, we've put no timeline on that," he said.
The foreign minister said the countries contributing to the US-led coalition forces want a quick transfer of power to the Iraqis.
"The Iraqis are going to have to take responsibility not just of their own government but also for their own security as quickly as possible," he said.
