Denmark is making a careful study of a US request that Denmark leads peacekeeping operations in post-war Iraq, Denmark Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen said on Tuesday.
Rasmussen on Tuesday made the US request known to parliament's Foreign Policy Committee and has discussed the issue with political parties, it is reported.
Rasmussen said his government has asked parliament to approve the deployment of 380 troops in Iraq. If Denmark agrees to lead the peacekeeping force, it would have to triple its military presence in Iraq, he said.
He said his country would make a decision after having an idea of the spending of the job, countries to be involved and other factors.
