Syria, Iran Could Be Targeted After Iraq: Lebanese Party Chief
A Lebanese prominent politician warned on Wednesday Washington will shift its targets to Iran, Syria and the Lebanese resistance guerrillas Hezbollah after the Iraq war, the official NNA news agency reported.

During his meeting with Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Jumblatt, chief of the Progressive Socialist Party, said defending Iraq is to defend Syria, Iran and all parties that oppose US-led war on Iraq and "our dignity."

He noted that American strategic aim is to reconstruct political map of the region.

He said Washington "is trying to get rid of all organizations and parties that oppose its policy," and will dismember Iraq to realize its ambition.

Jumblatt also called for providing military and monetary support for the Iraqi people against the coalition forces.

The United States started a war on Iraq on March 20 to topple Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, whom it accused of hiding and secretary developing weapons of mass destruction.

As its military advances in Iraqi were hampered by strong resistance from the Iraqi army, Washington recently accused Syria of providing military support to Iraq and warned against serious consequence of the action.
