About 100 Thai people kept a vigil over Monday night before the US embassy in Bangkok, praying world peace and wishing the war in Iraq end soon.
The protesters sat down before the US embassy compound and lighted over 100 candles, silently praying for world peace.
The protest, which was organized by the Inter-Religious Network of Thailand and attended by Muslims, Christians and Buddhists and foreign tourists, was held peacefully and expected to end on Tuesday morning.
"We hope the US government will be enlightened," said Pairin Chotesakulrat, a member of the organization.
Another Thai organization called Islamic Committees has planned to hold a large-scale protest in five southernmost provinces where most of the country's Muslims are living.
