Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer Thursday voiced his strong opposition to US "unilateral" military action against Iraq, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Sezer said he did not think "the US unilateral action is right," stressing that any strike on Iraq must be carried out with "international legitimacy."
The president made the comments hours ahead of Turkish parliament's vote on a motion that would give green light to US use of its airspace.
The United States for months has been seeking Turkey's consent to allow the deployment of its 62,000 troops on Turkish soil to open a "northern front."
