Up to 17 Iraqi soldiers crossed the border into Kuwait and surrendered to US troops on Wednesday, the US military said.
The Iraqi soldiers were handed over to Kuwaiti police.
A Kuwaiti military source on Wednesday night confirmed the report, and expected that more Iraqi soldiers to surrender as a US 48-hour ultimatum expires at 0100 GMT Thursday.
In his address to the Americans Monday evening (0100 GMT Tuesday), US President George W. Bush demanded Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and his sons leave his country within 48 hours or face war.
The United States and Britain have massed over 280,000 troops for the war, which President Bush said would be launched "at a time of our choosing."
