Chinese vice Premier Hui Liangyu on Friday asked Chinese people to plant more trees, in order to build a "green home" for all.

 

Attending a meeting to promote voluntary tree planting, Hui said all Chinese should worry about pollution, feel responsible for improving the environment, and learn about laws on protecting the environment.

 

Hui said generations of state leaders have been paying close attention to forestry. The voluntary tree planting activities have been carried out for 25 years, with the active participation of state leaders.

 

"It is one of China's characteristics for all the people to be mobilized to plant trees," Hui said. "After constant efforts, the environment is improving."

 

During the meeting, 13 cities, 54 counties, 172 organizations, and 120 individuals were awarded for their prominent efforts dedicated to planting trees.
