Berlinale candidate movie Lost in Beiijing has officially passed the examination by the China Film Bureau on February 5, prior to its unveiling at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany.

However, the extramarital affair from the original "cut" has now been deleted.

Producer Fang Li expressed his disappointment about the result, saying that the cut has made Lost in Beijing a totally different movie. He says his team had never considered the final version of the movie being like that.

Director Li Yu, and the movie's two main actors, Fan Bingbing and Tong Dawei, will go to Berlin on February 14 to take part in the film award. Another of its main stars, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung, has not decided whether or not to join the event.

As one of two Chinese movies entering this year's Berlinale race for Golden and Silver Bears, the movie tells a story about a couple who go to find jobs in the city.

The movie will open in Chinese theaters in May.
