His film The Road, which stars Chinese actor Fan Wei and rising actress Zhang Jingchu, scooped the festival's top prize, the Golden Pyramid. Zhang Jingchu also garnered the Best Actress award for her impressive performance in the movie. 19 films from 16 countries were in competition for the Golden Pyramid award.
