With employers start headhunting in the campuses throughout the country on Monday, Chinese college students are ready for this year's annual nationwide job fair.
However, the Beijing Youth Daily says a new generation of nearly five million 2007 graduates are facing a hard time. Many of them have high expectations, hoping to find a decent job in the country's major eastern cities.
According to the newspaper, a number of university graduates complain that they are always in a disadvantaged position as they do not have enough relevant work experience as per the requirements of many enterprises.
Officials with China's Ministry of Education suggest more graduates start their career at the grassroots level in the western parts of the country in order to mitigate fierce competition in the eastern region.
