The Shanghai Museum of Fine Arts opened its doors on Tuesday to contemporary paintings from Tibet. Eleven Tibetan artists display the remote and mysterious plateau through different techniques.
The exhibition features over 80 paintings of the harmony between the snowy plateau and the artists. Han Shuli centered his theme on "Buddhism" and tries to tug at the heartstrings of modern people with religious magnificence.
Bama Zhaxi, the self-made Tibetan painter, let his imagination go wild when he created "Goddess Peak", which was awarded the gold prize in the 2nd International New Artists' Inkwash Painting Competition in Canada.
Yu Youxin, however, captured Tibet's beauty and tranquility as he recreated Tibet's natural environment. His artistic abilities allow him to accurately translate his feelings of Tibet. And a wonderful display of Tibetan women made the only female artist, Dezhen, really stand out.
By pushing the boundaries of contemporary art, these artists were able to show Tibetan characteristics vividly in a new light.
