The logo of China Pavilion at the World Expo 2005 in Japan was unveiled in Beijing Thursday by Wan Jifei, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).
Featuring red peony, green leaves and white dove, the logo was designed by Wang Dianjing and Han Lin from Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province.
Peony is one of the most popular flower species among the Chinese, and dove and green leaves show the Chinese people's love of peace, Wang said.
Gao Yan, chairwoman of the Organizing Committee of China Pavilion and CCPIT vice chairwoman, said the logo shows the theme of the China Pavilion -- "nature, city and harmony: the art of life."
According to the CCPIT, the logo was selected from more than 1,500 works designed by people from 41 cities in the Chinese mainland as well as Japan and Hong Kong.
The World Expo 2005 will be held from March 25 to September 25, 2005 in Aichi of Japan, with the theme of "wisdom of nature."
The CCPIT, on behalf of the Chinese government, organizes the China Pavilion, which will cover 1,620 square meters and is one of the two largest pavilions from outside Japan.
The World Expo is held every five years. It is renowned as the Olympics of economy, science and technology.
