Teachers, Officials Punished for Exam Cheating
Two high school teachers were fired Thursday for their involvement in a college entrance exam cheating incident in Nanzheng County in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Wang Hu and Yue Hanbin, two high school teachers, have been accused of providing students solutions to exam problems through mobile phones during the national college entrance examination on June 7.

Fifty-two students paid Yue 12,000 yuan (US$1,446) and gave him their mobile phone numbers through which he and Wang transmitted solutions while monitoring the exam.

Four other people, including three educational officials and a high school principal, were sacked or suspended from their posts for negligence of duty.

The cheating incident was exposed by the Shaanxi provincial examination management center after they found many papers have identical answers.

Police are looking into the criminal implications of the actions of Wang and Yue.
