A series of historical books first begun by Chinese historians in 1953 has finally been completed.
The series, consisting of 16 books with a total 10 million Chinese characters, were published by the Shanghai People's Publishing House early this month.
The 16 books, regarded as a landmark historical work in China, form an overall picture of Chinese history, divided into sections relating to various dynasties.
Chinese historians completed a book series of general Chinese history four years ago.
