A steam locomotive museum is to be built at the Qipanshan tourist resort on the outskirts of Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.
On display will be 15 steam locomotives manufactured in eight countries -- the United States, Japan, the former Soviet Union, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Poland, France and China, museum officials said.
The oldest is a DBL locomotive produced in the United States in 1907.
All the locomotives are currently kept in the open air at a locomotive maintenance station in Shenyang.
When the museum opens in November this year, the locomotives will be moved into a 7,000 square meter exhibition hall, officials said.
The museum in Shenyang is believed to be the second steam locomotive museum in China.
The other is in Datong, a mining city in north China's Shanxi Province. The pride of that collection is a locomotive produced in the United Kingdom in 1882, the oldest locomotive preserved in China.
China's last steam locomotive production line was shut down at the Datong locomotive factory in December 1988.
