Old Beijing snack restaurant reopened
Adjust font size:

Waitress at Jin Fang serves their customers with seasonal millet gruel, or mian cha in Chinese, on November 20, 2007.

A time-honored Beijing snack restaurant, Jin Fang, reopened after five months of closure at Ciqikou in southern Chongwen district of Beijing on November 20.

Jin Fang was closed due to nearby houses' removal construction.

Established back in 1926, Jin Fang was originally named "Rong Xiang Cheng" and has been famous for its Muslim-flavored snacks, particularly its mooncakes and lantern festival dumplings.

On Tuesday when it reopened to the public, Jin Fang reinvited back dozens of its senior cooks to prepare 80 kinds of popular Beijing snacks for the locals.

In the newly opened restaurant, customers can also enjoy watching what the busy chefs are up to while eating thanks to an "open" kitchen.
