Living Pressure Means Social Progress

Numerous social commentators have suggested that the increasing pressure of modern life is threatening to damage society.

However, an editorial in the Beijing News contests this view. The author believes that the increasing pressure reflects the development of the society, and will not cause any harm.

Before China's reform and opening-up, many Chinese people did not fall under the same pressures that exist today.

However, many people now choose to bear modern pressures for the chance of a better future.

The editorial cautions that to big pressures can be destructive. However, it also suggests that current trends produce more aggressive youth that are capable of shouldering heavier burdens and making distinct contributions to society as a whole.
