Dictionary of Dunhuang Art
The Dictionary of Dunhuang Art (Dunhuang Yishu Dacidian) is a reference book on Dunhuang art organized and compiled by the Dunhuang Academy. Published in December 2019, it is a joint effort by over 70 scholars from the field of Dunhuang studies led by Fan Jinshi and Zhao Shengliang, who are known for their expertise in the study of Dunhuang art as well as Chinese art history in general.
This book serves as a comprehensive compilation of academic vocabulary and specialized knowledge in the field of cave archaeology and art research, focusing on themes such as the Dunhuang Caves, relics, sculptures, murals, figures, inscriptions, artworks from the Library Cave, and cave protection. The main text is organized into 28 categories including nearly 3,000 entries and over 1,000 images, totaling around 1.4 million words. It provides a thorough overview of Dunhuang cave art and the latest achievements in academic research, featuring a large number of high-resolution color images and line drawings that vividly showcase the rich, profound Dunhuang art.
This is the first comprehensive reference book to introduce and interpret the archaeology and the art of the Dunhuang Caves, an encyclopedia of Dunhuang art. 《敦煌藝術(shù)大辭典》是敦煌研究院組織編寫的敦煌藝術(shù)工具書，2019年12月版。該書由樊錦詩、趙聲良領(lǐng)銜，集結(jié)敦煌學(xué)界70余位學(xué)者共同完成。
該書是以敦煌石窟、遺跡遺物、塑像、壁畫、人物、題記、藏經(jīng)洞藝術(shù)品、石窟保護(hù)等為主題的石窟考古與藝術(shù)研究領(lǐng)域?qū)W術(shù)詞匯和專業(yè)知識的集釋。正文按照類別進(jìn)行編排，共28個(gè)類別，收錄詞條近3000條、1000余幅圖片，約140萬字。
