Democratic Oversight

Democratic oversight is the consultative scrutiny conducted, under the CPC's leadership and socialism with Chinese characteristics, by the CPPCC's participating political parties and members from different ethnic groups and sectors of society in line with the CPPCC Charter through such means as comments, criticisms, and suggestions. This is an important part of China's socialist system of oversight and a major way to promote socialist consultative democracy.

Democratic oversight, political consultation, and participation in and deliberation on the administration of state affairs differ from each other despite close links. The focus of democratic oversight is on the implementation of major guidelines, policies, decisions, and plans of the CPC and the state, and the aim is to help the Party and the government solve problems, be more effective, increase unity, build cohesion, and rally strength. The oversight is often conducted through meetings, inspections, proposals, and other channels.

民主監督

人民政協民主監督是在堅持中國共產黨的領導、堅持中國特色社會主義基礎上，參加人民政協的各黨派團體和各族各界人士在政協組織的各種活動中，依據政協章程，以提出意見、批評、建議的方式進行的協商式監督。人民政協民主監督是中國社會主義監督體系的重要組成部分，是社會主義協商民主的重要實現形式。

民主監督與政治協商、參政議政職能相互關聯，又有所區別。民主監督的重點是黨和國家重大方針政策和重要決策部署的貫徹落實情況，監督目的是協助黨和政府解決問題、改進工作、增進團結、凝心聚力。民主監督形式主要包括會議監督、視察監督、提案監督、專項監督等。
