Missions and Tasks of China's Armed Forces in the New Era

At a meeting of military leaders in December 2017, Xi Jinping highlighted the responsibility of the armed forces to implement the Party's mission in response to new security and strategic challenges in the new era. 

The white paper China's National Defense in the New Era issued by the State Council Information Office on July 24, 2019, explains:

In the new era, to meet the strategic demands of national security and development, China's armed forces firmly implement the missions and tasks entrusted by the CPC and the people. They endeavor to provide strategic support for consolidating the leadership of the CPC and the socialist system, safeguarding national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, protecting China's overseas interests, and promoting world peace and development.

新時代軍隊使命任務

2017年12月，習近平在軍隊一次重要會議上指出，人民軍隊必須服從服務于黨的歷史使命，把握新時代國家安全戰略需求，擔當起黨和人民賦予的新時代使命任務。2019年7月24日，國務院新聞辦公室發表《新時代的中國國防》白皮書明確指出：進入新時代，中國軍隊依據國家安全和發展戰略要求，堅決履行黨和人民賦予的使命任務，為鞏固中國共產黨領導和社會主義制度提供戰略支撐，為捍衛國家主權、統一、領土完整提供戰略支撐，為維護國家海外利益提供戰略支撐，為促進世界和平與發展提供戰略支撐。
