Efforts to Uproot Peacetime Ills

A long period of relative peace can easily leave a military moored in accumulated inertia, diminishing its combat readiness and rendering it ill-prepared for action, both mentally and operationally.

Xi Jinping has urged the military to avoid this inertia. In response to his call, a vigorous campaign has been launched to bring about fundamental change in the way the military readies itself to take on and neutralize actual threats. It focuses on identifying and addressing major issues and vulnerabilities that contribute to the peacetime ills and chip away at combat readiness. As a result, service members focus more on their duties to fight, to command and to train, bringing the military to a significantly higher level of preparedness. 

糾治和平積弊

一支軍隊(duì)在長(zhǎng)期相對(duì)和平的環(huán)境中，容易形成偏離打仗中心的思想、行為和狀態(tài)，積因成弊，具有一定普遍性和頑固性。習(xí)近平要求全軍大力糾治和平積弊。為此，中國(guó)軍隊(duì)以整風(fēng)精神開展“和平積弊大起底大掃除”活動(dòng)，扭住能打仗、打勝仗這個(gè)關(guān)鍵，查找和糾治備戰(zhàn)打仗突出矛盾問(wèn)題，堅(jiān)決克服背離實(shí)戰(zhàn)的思想和行為，官兵當(dāng)兵打仗、帶兵打仗、練兵打仗思想不斷強(qiáng)化，在備戰(zhàn)打仗上有很大的加強(qiáng)。
