The spirit of the workers in the Daqing Oilfield

In early 1960, tens of thousands of workers from all over the country gathered on the Songnen Plain in northeast China, presented to support a massive campaign to tap oil that was urgently needed by the country.

The arduous task hastened the budding of a new spirit, embodied in the patriotism that encourages people to win honor for the nation, the will to act on their own initiative, the determination to be honest and strict with themselves, and the desire to keep the country’s overall interests in mind.

大慶精神

1960年初，數萬名石油工人從中國四面八方來到東北的松嫩平原，展開了一場艱苦卓絕的大慶石油會戰。大慶油田的開發建設鑄就了大慶精神，是激勵中國人民不畏艱難、勇往直前的寶貴精神財富。這一精神的主要內涵包括：為國爭光、為民族爭氣的愛國主義精神；獨立自主、自力更生的艱苦創業精神；講求科學、“三老四嚴”（當老實人、說老實話、辦老實事，嚴格的要求、嚴密的組織、嚴肅的態度、嚴明的紀律）的科學求實精神；胸懷全局、為國分憂的奉獻精神。概括地說，大慶精神就是“愛國、創業、求實、奉獻”。
