Eliminating the "Four Malfeasances"

During a work conference in June, 2013, on the campaign to educate Party members about the mass line, Xi Jinping pointed out that there were numerous instances of the Party losing its connection with the people. These were manifested in the "Four Malfeasances: going through the motions, excess bureaucracy, self-indulgence and extravagance. We must undertake a major clean-up of the negative effects of these phenomena.

The "Four Malfeasances" are contrary to the nature and mission of the CPC. They are detested by the people and provoke the strongest feelings, and they are a major cause of damage to relations between the Party and the people. Their elimination must start with those issues of greatest concern and greatest urgency to the people. Efforts should focus on inappropriate conduct which directly touches on the people; the impact of improvements should reach all the way to the grassroots and let the people truly feel the benefits, and we must work for results which satisfy the people.

反對“四風”

2013年6月，習近平在黨的群眾路線教育實踐活動工作會議上指出，黨內(nèi)脫離群眾的現(xiàn)象大量存在，集中表現(xiàn)在形式主義、官僚主義、享樂主義和奢靡之風這“四風”上。我們要對作風之弊、行為之垢來一次大排查、大檢修、大掃除。“四風”是違背中國共產(chǎn)黨的性質(zhì)和宗旨的，是當前群眾深惡痛絕、反映最強烈的問題，也是損害黨群干群關(guān)系的重要根源。反對“四風”時，要從群眾最關(guān)心、最迫切的問題入手，著力解決關(guān)系群眾切身利益的問題，解決群眾身邊的不正之風問題，把改進作風成效落實到基層，真正讓群眾受益，努力取得人民群眾滿意的實效。
