Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said in Guangzhou Thursday that Singapore hopes to further promote cooperation with south China's Guangdong Province and the Pan-Pearl River Delta areas.

 

During his meeting with the Governor of Guangdong Province Huang Huahua, Lee said the economic and trade cooperation between Singapore and Guangdong have developed well, as over a score of Guangdong enterprises are listed in Singapore.

 

According to statistics from China Customs, the import and export volume between Singapore and Guangdong reached US$10 billion, accounting for 30 percent of the total volume between the two nation.

 

The bilateral import and export volume in the first 9 months this year reached US$8.4 billion, up 17 percent from the same period last year.

 

The Singaporean Prime Minister will also visit Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province later this week.

 

Lee was in China for the China-ASEAN commemorative summit scheduled for Oct. 30-31 in Nanning, capital of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
