Aug. 1, 2000 A bomb kills two people and seriously injures the Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia. Police say the attack was mounted to avenge an assault that ousted the Muslim separatist Moro Islamic Liberation from their camp on the Philippine southern island of Mindanao in 1999.
April 19, 1999 The ground floor of Jakarta main Istiqlal mosque is destroyed by a bomb allegedly set off by Jemaah Islamiyah extremists. No one is injured.
