Monk Jingzang Pagoda in Dengfeng of Henan Province
The pagoda is situated on the western side of the entrance of Huishan Temple six kilometers northwest of the county town of Dengfeng. It was built to bury Monk Jingzang, who died in 746 in the Tang Dynasty.

The octagonal one-storey pagoda is a brick pavilion-style structure more than nine meters high. The base is huge and supports a Sumeru pedestal. The pagoda's main body rests on the pedestal. The pagoda's brackets are rarely found in other pagodas and are seen only in sculptures and paintings in the Beiqi grottoes on Tianlong Mountain in Taiyuan, Shared Province, and the Yungang and Longmen grottoes. Hence, the pagoda is an invaluable relic. The carvings on the windows and doors of the pagoda are in the style of those of wooden structures, which is a style of the Tang Dynasty, making them valuable for studying wooden architecture in the Tang Dynasty. This octagonal pagoda is really unusual among the pagodas built in the Tang Dynasty.
