Shanghai Public Transportation Adminitration plans a 40 percent ugrading of city buses in the coming two years. The Administration publicized a list of bus types. 64 types of bus are recommended among more than 140 for selection from bus companies.
Shanghai has more than 6,500 buses now, but 70 percent are of low quality, which break down, and whose tires burst frequently. The administration expects buses of higher grade to amount to 70 percent in two years, 40 percent more than the current 30 percent.
