Chaozhou City in South China's Guangdong Province will hold an international design contest focused on evening wear and wedding dresses on April 27-28, the municipal government of Chaozhou said.
Chaozhou is viewed as "one of the largest manufacturing base for evening wear and wedding dresses in the world".
It has 565 garment factories, producing 5.4 billion yuan (nearly US$ 700 million)-worth of garments every year. Its evening wear and wedding dresses, in hundreds of designs, are becoming popular in the world market.
According to an organizing committee source, the nine adjudicators of the contest will all be all leading international figures in the field.
