Beautiful and elegant young ladies are always chosen outside China to be the representative idols of a city,an area or even the world,such as Miss California,Miss Asia and Miss World.Now,the world practice comes nearer to the Chinese cities.
The China Artist magazine launched a movement recently and chose,from its authoritative view,fourteen young ladies,mostly actresses,as symbolic ladies of fourteen big cities in China.These beauties are also called by the magazine as the cities'representative flowers.It's widely believed that their personalities are close to the meaning,outlook,or other features of a certain flower.
Two world famous film stars are representatives of Hong Kong and Jinan,they are 40-something Maggie Cheung,whose hit film "In the mood for love"topped the box office last year,and Shandong-native Gong Li,who became the first Chinese lady to shock the Holleywood with Director Zhang Yimou's "Da Hong Deng Long Gao Gao Gua(or Red Lanterns Hanging Up High)"in the late 1990s.
Three nation-wide actresses are chosen by Nanchang,Guiyang and Nanjing cities as their impersonated flowers. A famous movie director Chen Kaige's wife, Chen Hong,whose beauty has become household knowledge but acting skills are yet to be improved,now represents the city of Nanchang. Ning Jing,who has big eyes and got married to the overseas hero of the Red Valley, became Guiyang's new idol. Mei Ting,once a children star and famous for her boldness in a movie scene that features her bare back with no clothes on,represents a historical city, Nanjing.
Fashion model Qu Ying was chosen as Miss Changsha.The model has always been involved in some love affairs.
Seven rising stars became Miss Beijing,Miss Taipei,Miss Wuhu,Miss Dalian and Miss Wuxi,Miss Chongqi and Miss Qingdao.
Miss Shanghai's crown fell to a 19-year-old shining girl,Sun Li.She is the only beauty who has never shown up on movies or TV dramas before. Her virgin movie is to be premiered in Shanghai soon.
