Three hydrological stations in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region will offer hydrological data to India during the flood season.
China's Ministry of Water Resources announced on Thursday that the Chinese and Indian water authorities had signed an agreement on this issue in New Delhi, capital of India on April 24, 2002.
According to the agreement, the three hydrological stations, all located along the Yarlung Zangbo River, will offer hydrological forecasts to India from June 1 to October 15.
The forecasts will help India with flood prevention and cutting losses caused by floods.
China's Yalung Zangbo River is the upper reaches of India's Brahmaputra River.
An official with China's Ministry of Water Resources said that India was an important neighbor for China. Offering hydrological data to India was in the spirit of the two country's good neighborliness.
In line with international practice and humanitarian goodwill, the agreement would help promote healthy bilateral relations, he added.
