The Jian-8 is a type of fighter plane, and its development reflects a transition in China's high-powered battle aviation equipment from introduced and "copied" planes to locally-designed and locally-produced planes. The Jian-8 series fighter plane is for use by the Chinese Air Force and Chinese Navy. The Jian-8 has also helped China's aviation industry train two generations of air mechanics.
