The number of people that have addictions for the Internet in the whole Taiwan Region has surpassed 400,000 who are reluctant to get in touch with real society because of Internet addiction, according to a report called Observation for Otaku Phenomenon presently issued by Taipei's International Church of Christ.
The report pointed that the summer vacation especially August is a peak for the form of "Otaku."
Otaku refers to people who have extreme preferences to special things and are not glad to get in touch with others.
Moreover, the age gap in network addiction has been enlarged. The Internet addicts distribute among children, the youth as well as people in their prime of life.
It is reported that the populace of Taiwan Region spend the longest time on the Internet in the world. Meanwhile, the "Otaku" phenomenon has turned from comics, television and electric games to the Internet.
