A Shenzhen woman who suffers from limb deformation and serious memory decline due to a childhood accident has volunteered her brain for medical experiments.
"I'm serious. I'm not kidding," Huang Shuzhen, 23, told the Shenzhen Economic Daily when she called to announce her decision.
Huang, who is pursuing a college degree in public administration through a TV education program, suffered serious brain damage when she fell from a stool at the age of 3.
The injury has caused atrophy of her right hand and right leg. Her body shakes and slants to the right when she walks.
She tries very hard to continue the TV course in an attempt to halt the decline of her memory.
She said her damaged brain may provide some clues for medical researchers and could be used as clinical tests for patients suffering from similar conditions. She also signed an indemnity letter for that purpose.
Huang's mother, who had been opposed to her daughter's plan, said she had changed her mind.
