Carriage Jams Third Ring Road in Beijing

A horse-drawn carriage loaded with a canon caused traffic congestion on the west side of Guo Mao bridge, located on the third ring road for an hour on Monday.

Mr. Wu, the man on the carriage, is a performance artist, saying that he wanted to send his work to a grass land in Jian Wai SOHO building for exhibition. But he didn't expect that the carriage would not be allowed to enter. He had to stop it on the road, waiting for admission.

Many passersby, drawn by this canon carved with Monkey King No.2, were concerned about whether it's it was a real canon, while Mr. Wu later says it's made from a water pump.

The owner of the carriage is a woman who earns her living selling bananas. She expressed her regret to rent her carriage to this artist as a part of his work.

Police said driving the carriage onto the ring road violated traffic rules, and it had many serious ramifications.

The canon has been taken off the carriage and sent to the appointed spot for exhibition.
