Chinese health authorities say the ingredients used in Johnson & Johnson baby care products made and sold in China meet government standards.
The statement comes after some Johnson & Johnson's products in India were recently found to contain liquid paraffin, a mineral oil not considered safe for babies.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Mao Qun'an declared the products safe after the Ministry made its own investigations into products sold by the global giant in China.
He says the ingredients used in Johnson & Johnson products comply with cosmetics hygiene norms required by the Ministry.
"Johnson & Johnson was not found guilty of any illegal activities in an inspection by Chinese authorities. And so far there haven't been reports of any harm caused by using liquid paraffin in cosmetic products."
The spokesman adds that liquid paraffin is widely used in cosmetic products, including baby care products, in China.
Experts say research so far has not found evidence that liquid paraffin causes cancer.
