New Police to Take Mental Tests

In 2005, Chinese people who want to train as police officers must take psychological tests. Anyone who is considered to suffer from mental problems will not be enrolled in police training academies, the Beijing Evening News reports.

China's public security forces in each province will make sure all incumbent police officers undergo a psychological test and will keep records on their mental health. Activities will be held from time to time where officers can enquire about mental problems.

So far, a website entitled "The Mental Health of Public Security Forces" has been set up and China's Ministry of Public Security says it will create a psychological inquiry system for police to use within the next 3 years.
