A passenger plane and a cargo plane collided over southern Germany late Monday night, killing at least 140 people, German press reported.
The Tupolev Tu-154 passenger plane with 140 to 150 passengers on board was flying from Russia's capital city of Moscow to Barcelona, Spain, with a stopover in Munich, Germany, the German news agency, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, quoted police as saying.
The Boeing 757 cargo plane, with a pilot and co-pilot aboard, was bound for Brussels from Bahrain with a stop in Italy.
The two planes clashed at an altitude of 11,000 meters shortly before midnight and crashed over the town of Ueberlingen, near Lake Constance, where the borders of Germany, Austria and Switzerland meet.
Bodies and debris spread over within a 30-kilometer radius, and police were searching the area with helicopters.
Two bodies were found in the city of Constance, and debris were found setting a school, a farm and several houses on fire.
