Li Peng, chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPC), Tuesday concludes his week-long official good-will visit to Japan and will leave Kogoshima for home.
Before his departure, Li sent a telegraph to Japanese House of Representatives Speaker Tamisuke Watanuki and House of Councilors President Yutaka Inoue expressing his gratefulness.
Li thanked the hospitality and considerable arrangement of the two Diet leaders and all other Japanese friends. "With the concerted efforts made by both sides, China-Japan relations will definitely score greater development in the new century," as he put it in the telegraph.
Li also asked the two leaders to convey his gratitude and regards to Japanese Emperor Akihito.
The purpose of his visit to Japan is to celebrated the 30th anniversary of the normalization of relations between China and Japan and to push forward the development of the friendly relationship between the two countries, said Li.
Li's entourage, including his wife Zhu Lin and NPC Standing Committee Vice-chairman Wang Guangying, left aboard the same plane.
