A seminar on human rights education, co-sponsored by the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, was convened in Beijing Thursday.
During the two-day seminar, over 40 government officials, scholars and experts from China's legislative, judicial, public security and education sectors as well as world experts are to hold in-depth discussions on the content of human rights education and practices in different countries.
Chinese Vice-Premier Qian Qichen and UN High Commissioner Mary Robinson attended the seminar's opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively.
Qian and Robinson also presented some books on international law to representatives of Chinese departments involved in human rights.
