The top Chinese procurator urged in Beijing Tuesday law enforcement departments in Asian and European countries to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, so as to eliminate crimes as well as to contribute to world peace, stability and development.
Han Zhubin, Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of China, made the call at a reception held by the top Chinese procurator to entertain more than 200 delegates from 10 Asian countries and 15 European countries, who are here attending the Symposium on ASEM Law Enforcement Organs Cooperation in Combating Transnational Crime.
Han said that social stability and a good way of life is the common wish of all humanity. However, along with the economic globalization, rapid progress of science and technology as well as increasing international exchanges, various crimes have become more internationalized, organized and more reliant on high intelligence.
Terrorism, separatism and extremism have become rampant in some areas of the world and transnational and transregional crimes are horrendous for they not only endanger the stability of international order and economic development, but also bring danger to people's lives and property, he said.
Therefore, the procurator stressed, "fighting international crimes has become a vital issue facing the countries all over the world."
Han said that he really appreciates the efforts made by participants at the symposium to explore approaches for strengthening international communication and cooperation in the law enforcement sector.
The symposium, opened here Monday, is scheduled to last three days. Participants at the symposium are expected to exchange views and study counter-measures and mechanisms for cooperation in combating transnational crimes, international terrorism in particular.
