Rainstorms that hit the southern China province of Hainan, since October 13, have killed three people, and caused one to go missing.
Floods caused by rainstorms flooded 610 villages, affecting more than 200,000 people. Those affected have been relocated to safer places by the rescue efforts of local government, police and the public.
The rainstorms, which hit northern and eastern Hainan, also submerged more than 66,000 hectares of crops and a group of fish ponds.
Tropical depression and cold air from the north are cited as the main factors leading to the torrential rains that caused flooding of local rivers.
Governor Wang Xiaofeng and other local officials immediately rushed to disaster areas to guide rescue work when the flooding occurred.
In another development, heavy rains also hit Xuwen County in south China's Guangdong Province.
The rain has damaged more than 20,000 hectares of crops and 333 hectares of shrimp fields, causing an economic loss of 210 million yuan.
