The latest Finance Asia has brought out the best Asian financial institutions of 2000 in line with five kinds of awards, i.e. the best local commercial bank, best foreign commercial bank, best local stock-jobber, best local bond company, and best investment bank.
As reported, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited has pocketed three laurels of best Hong Kong investment bank, best local commercial bank, and best local bond company and Tai Fook the best Securities Group in Hong Kong. China Merchants Bank was appraised the best commercial bank of China's mainland while the title of best investment bank of China's mainland, and best international investment bank fell respectively to China International Capital Corporation Limited and Morgan Stanley Dean Witter.
According to the magazine, the appraisal standards for the best local stock-jobber are the commissions and research results of the institutions and the best investment bank their capability in stock market, skills of merging and consultation, and activities in the international bond market.
