The Ninth Shanghai International Automotive Industry Show opened Monday in Shanghai.
Some 700 automobile manufacturers from 23 countries and regions worldwide, including General Motors, Ford, Daimler Chrysler, Citroen, Toyota, Peugeot, Lincoln, Mitsubishi, Honda and Volkswagen are attending the seven-day exposition along with a number of auto parts and accessories manufacturers.
On display at the exhibition area of 50,000 square meters are various new model cars, sports cars, family cars and luxury cars as well as automobile multi-media appliances, audio-video equipment and auto parts.
There will also be seminars on environmental protection and automobile test-drive activities.
The exhibition was first held in 1985. Last year, nearly 460 automobile manufacturers from 21 countries and regions worldwide attended the exhibition, which attracted more than 300,000 visitors.
