Six drug dealers convicted in the largest ever drug trafficking case in Dongguan city of south China's Guangdong province were sentenced to death on Sunday.
Bi Zhong, Sha Lingjie, Zhang Yong, Zhou Longqiong, Shu Jiying and Qiu Qiyun were given the death sentence from the Intermediate People's Court of Dongguan City, which in the case's first trial found the six guilty of smuggling a large quantity of heroin into Guangdong from southwest China's Yunnan province.
The court investigation showed that Bi and Sha smuggled a totalof 51,305 grams of heroin into the booming southern province, and Zhang, Zhou, Shu and Qiu smuggled 10,233, 1,023, 1,298 and 1,077 grams respectively.
The six, along with 10 accomplices, in total smuggled and sold more than 100 kilograms of drugs since 2001, according to the court's verdict.
Among the 10 accomplices, Shu Chunguang, Ying Guangbing and Qin Nairui were sentenced to death with a two-year probation, and the seven others received jail terms ranging from over 10 years to life.
