Ten designs for the emblem for the 2008 Olympics have won prizes and now have a shot at the official logo, Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG) announced in Beijing on Wednesday.
After two rounds of appraisal, 10 designs were selected from a total of 1,994 design submissions, said a BOCOG statement.
It also said that BOCOG Executive Board will select the finally determined Olympic Emblem from the 10 designs before submitting itto the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board for approval in December.
The final emblem for the 2008 Olympics will be officially announced in April next year, according to the statement.
Among the 1,994 design submissions for the Games' emblem BOCOG received, 1,744 are local submissions (including the Chinese mainland, Taiwan Province, and the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions), accounting for 88.57 percent.
Foreign designers from Asia, Europe, America and Oceania also took an active part in the competition, submitting 228 designs.
