Hong Kong police said Friday that it seized a total of 1,400 grams of suspected No.4 heroin worth about 600,000 HK dollars (US$76,923) Thursday night.
After extensive investigations, officers attached to the Regional Special Duty Squad of Kowloon West successfully identified a 51-year-old man who is believed to be engaging in drugs trafficking activities, according to a police report.
The officers started lying ambush outside a hotel at 277 King's Road in North Point last night. At about 8:50 pm, the man was seen leaving the hotel and was intercepted by the officers.
Upon searching, some 400 grams of No.4 heroin was found in his possession. A subsequent search in his room in the hotel has led to a further seizure of 1,000 grams No.4 heroin.
The man will be charged with trafficking in dangerous drug and will appear at the Eastern Magistrates' Courts later Friday, said the police.
