An underground water pipe in Wuhan city of central China's Hubei Province burst at around 2:00 PM on Wednesday and water flooded several nearby roads.
The accident caused temporary traffic interruption and cut off water supply, which affected up to 10,000 homes, according to reports from Imagine China, a domestic photo agency.
Maintenance workers from the city's water company came to repair the damaged pipe immediately and fire trucks were later dispatched to supply drinking water to the residents.
Only buses and large vehicles were allowed to pass through the submerged section after some sedan cars were trapped in the water, the report said.
The cause of the accident is still unavailable at the time of the press release.
The pipe, one meter in diameter, is located in front of the city's Changqing Park.
