Bean sprouts grow in tomato
Adjust font size:

Ms Li was very surprised to find bean sprouts growing in a tomato when she cut it open to eat.

Daynews.com recently reported that the strange incident happened in Taiyuan, northern China's Shanxi Province. Ms Li said she thought the tomato was rotten at first glance, but later realised bean sprouts were flourishing inside the tomato.

"There are dozens of sprouts, with a length of around 7 to 8 centimeters", Ms Li added.

Expert from the local agriculture department said it is very rare to see bean sprouts growing naturally inside a tomato. It's a case of individual variation.
